I have always painted with watercolors, sometimes small studies, other times larger finished impressions. The interaction of the pigment with water on the lively white (or sometimes light blue) color of the paper, is vibrant and alive. Watercolors make many shifts of color, value and edge as the paint dries, even as long as a half hour after the painting is “finished.”. Like many other artists, I enjoy taking my watercolors on travels, making paintings to connect more completely to the land, mountains, trees, water, rock and sky in the changing light and weather of the place I am in.
